Hearing James Deen’s opinions on porn, feminism and the industry, in general, has been eye-opening for me. If you don’t know, James Deen is an infamous adult star famous for his hundreds of hours of content and erotic scenes.

Even if you have never watched porn before you would probably still recognize his face as it is kind of everywhere.

James Deen recently said in an interview how damaging he thinks porn is too young people, dangerous in how it shows them a ‘show’ and they are led to believe that this is how sex is. He says we need to re-educate and show young people and some old that this isn’t real love and real sex, this is a show. I was really pleased with that statement as I totally agree with it.

However, is James Deen a feminist hero?

He is portrayed as being respectful towards women in the industry and even speaks up about some of the more complicated matters, however when asked if he saw himself as a feminist, he said no.

No because he doesn’t want to be labeled and although this may shock some of his die-hard feminist fans, this doesn’t mean he is a woman-hating bigot, he just doesn’t want that label, he respects women, he helps women out in the industry but he doesn’t consider himself a feminist.

James Deen now has his own porn production company where he shoots real porn videos with real women and pornstars. The women in these videos are real with real bodies are all consenting adults and all have their different reasons for being there and no his shoots. I think it’s important that we tackle some of these terrible porn production companies, the ones that exploit their adult stars (male and female) and we start showcasing porn as real sex and fake sex so that people can see a HUGE difference.
